Buying a Home for the First Time
Posted by REreviews on 11/4/07 in Finance, Real Estate
Buying your first home is an exciting time, for sure. It can also be stressful if you are worried about coming up with a substantial down payment. Many young families strap themselves by putting everything they have into the down payment and closing costs to close their loan.
Although many people can afford a mortgage payment and associated costs to owning their own home, first time buyers can overlook the thought of money needed for unexpected repairs. It is best to save a little extra cash for things that you may not be aware of that need attention so that you can fix the problems as the arise.
Even though the home you are purchasing looks immaculate and you can’t imagine changing one thing, the water heater could be on it’s way out, or the air conditioner could be making funny noises – both items really can’t be put on the back burner until funds are available.
Owning a home is a great investment. It does take real thought in financial planning.
