Grills Are Now Part of Beautiful Scenery

I had no idea that a grill island could be so beautiful nowadays. We back up to a forest, and I really hated where my husband wanted to put our last barbecue: right outside the sliding glass door. This put a greasy, rusty, dusty leaky thing between me and my view of the forest.
But outdoor grills are so beautiful now! Like those cal flame outdoor kitchens appliances. I couldn’t believe it when I went to go look. And they aren’t just black anymore-they aren’t even only stainless steel colored. There are lots of interesting browns, coppers and brick colors. I had decided where our new grill would go: within sight now that it was good-looking, but not quite between the forest and I. But when he pointed out that the overhead tree would leak sap onto it, I actually gave in and told him that he could put the grill right back where he wanted it in the first place because it actually ADDS to the scenery now!
I’m not embarrassed about it when people come over anymore. I actually used to push it to the other side of the deck and pull down the shades, which was hard in and of itself because it only had two wheels. Even if I did want to move this one, it has four wheels, so it rolls like a breeze!

I’m glad the new style grill islands are so good-looking. My wife doesn’t mind that we can see it from the kitchen windows, and I like it because it’s close to the patio.

I was on the fence about getting a grill installed in the back yard, but the new ones with the copper accents are so pretty I think it adds to the appeal of our back yard.

Now that my husband, Steve, talked me into getting a grill island put in, it’s become the focus of our entertaining when the weather’s nice. We have friends over every weekend for dinner and I’m learning how to cook all kinds of food on the grill from salmon steaks to grilled vegetables.

Since I’m a bachelor, I’m not much of a cook most of the time. But, I do love to grill steaks, brats, burgers and chicken. The women I date are impressed with my grilling skills, but it’s easy with the fancy outdoor kitchen I had installed.

Don’t tell my husband, but I had our Cal Flame outdoor kitchen put in so that he’d take over more of the cooking during the summer, spring and fall. He just thinks it’s fun, and the kids love it.

Even though I like grilling outdoors, the real reason I had my outdoor grill island put in was to increase the resale value of my house. Until I sell it, I get to enjoy grilling every weekend the weather is nice.
